The topic for #FMSPHOTOADAY was Paper.
This is a paper ornament I received for Christmas. It’s actually a recycled/upcycled book.
The topic for #7SDDPHOTOADAY was “white.” Here’s a glass of white wine.
The topic for #FMSPHOTOADAY was “street.”
This is a photo that I took during one of our motorcycle rides during the summer of 2012.
The topic for #7SDDPHOTOADAY was “I adore.” This is Olivia, a three month old hedgehog that my husband gave me back around Thanksgiving. She was an early birthday present. I adore hedgehogs.
For today’s challenges I actually dug into my photo archives.
#7SDDPHOTOADAY, the topic was CHALLENGE. In the summer of 2011 when I finished the radiation treatments for breast cancer, I signed up for my first ever Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Worried that I wasn’t getting enough training, I decided that hiking up the Manitou Springs Incline would be an excellent way to train for the 40 mile Avon Walk. This is me just before we began the hike. I did make it to the top (and I hiked it once more that summer). Oh and I did complete the Avon Walk, too. This September, I will be walking in my 3rd Avon Walk – this time in Santa Barbara.
The topic for #FMSPHOTOADAY is “Mine.” Here’s a rare picture of my men.
For #7SDDPHOTOADAY – the topic was “3 things about me.” I think these three things describe me rather well.
For #FMSPHOTOADAY – the topic was movement. These two seldom stop moving.
The topics for both challenges for day four were very similar “My View” and “The View From Here.” On Day Four I was in a day long professional development (one of the reasons I’m behind on these posts.)
This is the view from the school where the PD was being held.
Day 3 topic for #7SDDPhotoADay was home. This is just a simple picture of our home.
Day 3 topic for #FMSPHOTOADAY was Heart. Below is the guy who holds the key to my HEART.
For #FMSPHOTODAY – Day 2 the topic was “something new”.
For the #7SDDPHOTOADAY Day 2 the topic was “fresh.”
Today was a little hard. But that’s what I like about these challenges, they make me think outside of the camera lens. And of course sometimes it’s just the luck of the draw. I’m just an amateur photographer, but I firmly believe taking good photos is more than just technique. You need to use the camera in your mind as well as the one in your hands.
One of my goals for 2013 is to do more with my photos and to pay more attention to this blog. With that in mind, I decided to participate in some of the photo a day challenges that I’ve seen floating around the web.
The first challenge I found is hosted by Fat Mum Slim
The photo assignment for day one of this challenge is simply “Today.” Here is my photo.
This is how my first day of 2013 began and my husband’s last day of 2012 ended – me snapping a quick photo with my D7000 of Tony (aka Stogie) and our friend George (aka Bear) attempting their first cigar of 2013. I say attempting because, well even men are sometimes smart enough to know when it’s too cold to sit outside and smoke a cigar.
Another blogger that I follow is doing this photo a day challenge. I really liked some of the things they have on their list, so I thought I would give it a shot, too.
They are using instagram, which I’ve signed up for, but have never used. I’ll just post mine here.
Today’s assignment is a self portrait.
I took this photo with my iPad, uploaded it to fotoflexer and gave it a poster like effect. I thought it helped to hide the old lady chin that I seem to have developed. Anyone who knows me, knows that a self portrait of me reading a book, is some cultures say “SPOT ON.”
Signing up for two different photo a day challenges may be a case of biting off more than I can chew, but I won’t know until I give it a good try.
